Principles of Flight — DGCA CPL Technical General
Chapter 08 of the Technical General paper. 572 practice questions in the Avielevate bank, every one with its answer key, filterable into a timed set on this chapter alone.
What this chapter covers
The learning objectives we file Principles of Flight questions under, and how many sit behind each. These come straight out of the bank and are regenerated whenever it changes — they are what is there today, not a claim.

0417007 · Principles of Flight
Comparing a baseline aeroplane momentum of 67,000 kg-m/s to a second aeroplane momentum of 134,000 kg-m/s, how many times greater is the momentum of the second aeroplane?
- Atwice
- Bthree times greater
- Cfour times greater
Why that is the answer
Momentum depends linearly on both mass and velocity: p = m × v.
Doubling either mass or velocity doubles momentum; it is not a squared-speed relationship.
That relationship is the reason the correct choice is twice.
0417010 · Principles of Flight
Comparing a baseline aeroplane kinetic energy of 1,122,250 joules to a second aeroplane kinetic energy of 4,489,000 joules, how many times greater is the kinetic energy of the second aeroplane?
- Athree times greater
- Bfour times greater
- Ceight times greater
Why that is the answer
Kinetic energy is ½mv², so it increases directly with mass but with the square of speed.
If speed doubles at the same mass, kinetic energy becomes four times as large.
That squared-speed relationship explains four times greater.
0417036 · Principles of Flight
Regarding acceleration: 1 - acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. 2 - the units of acceleration are metres per second. 3 - the units of acceleration are kilogram-metres per second. 4 - the units of acceleration are seconds per metre per metre. The combination of correct statements is:
- A1 and 4.
- B1 only.
- C1 and 2.
Why that is the answer
Velocity is the rate of change of displacement and includes direction, unlike speed alone.
A change in either magnitude or direction of velocity is an acceleration.
Therefore 1 only matches the definition being tested.

Frequently asked
How many Principles of Flight questions are there for the DGCA CPL Technical General paper?
Avielevate's bank carries 572 published Principles of Flight questions for Technical General, mapped across 17 learning objectives. Every one has its answer key, and explanations are being written across the whole bank.
How much of the Technical General paper is Principles of Flight?
The DGCA does not publish a per-chapter breakdown of its papers, so nobody can honestly tell you — and we will not guess. What we can tell you is what students who have just sat a paper reported meeting, which is measured rather than rumoured: that is the exam recall report inside the app.
What is the best way to revise Principles of Flight?
Sit a short timed set on this chapter alone, tag how sure you were of each answer, then drill the two that actually leak marks: the ones you got right while guessing, and the ones you got wrong while confident. Avielevate does that tagging for you and puts anything you got wrong back in front of you on a spaced schedule.
