The standard phrase for a pilot to acknowledge a take-off clearance is:
- A"TAKING OFF, [call sign]"
- B"WILCO, [call sign]"
- C"RUNWAY [number] CLEARED FOR TAKE-OFF, [call sign]"
Why that is the answer
The pilot reads back **"RUNWAY (number) CLEARED FOR TAKE-OFF, (call sign)"**.
A take-off clearance is safety-critical, so the runway and the words "cleared for take-off" are repeated to prove there is no misunderstanding.
